Terms & Conditions

"Rotimax" means Rotimax Car Rental (Pty) Ltd, its employees, agents, and representatives.

"Renter" means the person named as the primary driver on the Rental Agreement.

"Additional Driver" means any person authorised in writing by Rotimax to drive the vehicle.

"Rental Period" means the period from the time the vehicle is collected or delivered to the time it is returned or collected by Rotimax.

"Vehicle" means any motor vehicle, its accessories, and equipment rented under this agreement.

• The Renter must be at least 23 years of age. Drivers aged 21–22 may rent at Rotimax's discretion and will be subject to a Young Driver Surcharge of R100/day.
• The Renter must hold a valid driver's licence for the category of vehicle being rented. Foreign licences must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP) or certified translation if not in English.
• The Renter must present a valid South African ID, passport, or smart card at time of collection.
• The Renter must have held their licence for a minimum of 12 months.
• All additional drivers must meet the same eligibility criteria and must be registered with Rotimax before driving the vehicle.

• Bookings may be made online, via WhatsApp, or by telephone. All bookings are subject to vehicle availability and confirmation by Rotimax.
• A non-refundable booking deposit of 30% of the total rental amount is required to secure a reservation. The balance is payable on or before vehicle collection.
• Payment may be made via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) or cash. Proof of payment must be emailed to info@rotimax.co.za prior to collection.
• A refundable security deposit of between R2 000 and R5 000 (depending on vehicle category) is required at the start of each rental. This deposit will be refunded within 5 business days of the vehicle being returned in an undamaged and acceptable condition.
• All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT unless otherwise stated.

• The rental period commences when the vehicle is delivered or collected and ends when the vehicle is returned to Rotimax or collected by Rotimax.
• Vehicles must be returned by the agreed return date and time. Late returns will be charged at the applicable daily rate, pro-rated per hour after the first grace period of 60 minutes.
• Rental extensions must be requested and approved by Rotimax at least 24 hours before the scheduled return date. Extensions are subject to availability and price changes.

The Renter agrees that the vehicle will not be used:

• To carry passengers or goods for reward, hire, or any commercial transportation purpose without Rotimax's prior written consent.
• To tow any vehicle, trailer, or caravan without prior written authorisation.
• Off-road or on unsurfaced roads not suitable for the vehicle category, unless a specifically approved 4x4 or off-road vehicle has been rented.
• Outside the borders of South Africa without prior written consent from Rotimax.
• By any person under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs judgement or driving ability.
• For any illegal purpose or in contravention of the laws of South Africa.
• By any driver not registered on the Rental Agreement.
• To participate in any race, rally, speed test, or motorised sporting event.

• Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, a refuelling fee of the cost of the missing fuel plus an administration fee of R150 will be charged.
• The Renter is responsible for ensuring the correct fuel type is used. Misfuelling damage is not covered by any insurance and will be charged in full to the Renter.

• The Renter is solely responsible for all traffic fines, e-toll charges, and parking penalties incurred during the rental period.
• Any fines or notifications received by Rotimax after the rental will be forwarded to the Renter. An administration fee of R250 per fine will be charged.

• In the event of an accident, the Renter must immediately notify Rotimax and the South African Police Service (SAPS). A case number must be obtained for all incidents involving third parties, theft, or malicious damage.
• The Renter must not admit liability or make any settlement offer to any third party without Rotimax's written consent.
• In the event of a mechanical breakdown, the Renter must contact Rotimax immediately. Rotimax will arrange roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle where possible and reasonably practical.
• The Renter is not entitled to authorise any repairs to the vehicle without prior written authorisation from Rotimax.

• The Renter accepts liability for all damage to the vehicle, including damage caused by a third party, during the rental period up to the excess amount specified in the rental agreement.
• Damage to tyres, wheels, windscreens, and the underbody of the vehicle is not covered by the standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) unless a specific additional waiver has been purchased.
• Damage caused while the vehicle is being driven in contravention of these Terms will void all insurance protection and the Renter will be fully liable for all costs.

• Rotimax offers a vehicle delivery and collection service within the Cape Town metropolitan area.
• A surcharge applies for deliveries to Cape Town International Airport (+R250) and door-to-door deliveries (+R200) within the defined service area.
• Deliveries outside the standard service area are subject to a separate quotation and Rotimax's discretion.
• Rotimax cannot guarantee exact delivery times but will communicate estimated arrival windows via WhatsApp or phone.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape, South Africa.
